By making him a demon and making Sebastian serve him for eternity, it's like the story will never end because technically, the story ends when Sebastian consumes Ciel's soul.

He's dead for good and probably soon-to-be-forgotten.Ĭiel being a demon is the 'fanservice' part.

He's not a part of the "spending eternity together" with Hannah, Luca & Alois. I mean, what else can they do?Ĭlaude is dead. I think everyone would've moved on with their life, the servants, Elizabeth, etc. Hell, I don't understand why the second half of season 1 exists.Įveryone was told that Ciel is dead, hence the whole box thing. Well, I also don't understand why season 2 exists. I just don't think that any of it was necessary. There were some pretty great moments in there and it was overall enjoyable. I know that it is said that season 2 is primarily fanservice, but how exactly was that ending pleasing at all? I'm just not quite sure why it had to be so unsatisfying.Īnyways, I don't think that season 2 was bad. Sebastian was just a demon trying to gain his next meal, and after all the abuse (mental and physical) that he went through to accomplish this goal, he ends up being doomed to serve for all eternity. The whole series I had been rooting for Sebastian to finally consume Ciel's soul. Not only did it make little sense, but it was also incredibly sad and frustrating. Putting these aside, however, the most baffling part was when Ciel turned into a demon himself. For instance, how were Hannah, Claude, Aloise, and Luca supposed to spend eternity together? Hannah took Alois and Lucas' souls, but I thought Claude was dead? Does that imply that demons who perish can still live on somehow? And what happened to the triplets? Finally, what did Ciel's other servants think when he left? What about Elizabeth!? There were so many odd twists and turns, and overall, I found it somewhat hard to follow.īut the finale is what confused/irritated me the most. They essentially just threw in a subpar version of Sebastian (Claude), added an even brattier version of Ciel (Alois), and then mixed in some other random characters (like Hannah) who I never really felt like I could get connected to. but I still feel as if season 2 was rather pointless. I am so happy that they continued with Book of Circus, etc. I'm so glad they have this subreddit because otherwise I wouldn't know where else to dump this XDįirst off, I don't understand why they had to stray from the manga's canon storyline. Hi there! I just finished season 2 of Black Butler, and I felt like I needed somewhere to lay out my final thoughts/rant(?) about its finale.
